Whether you're a novice or a seasoned pro, this toolkit is your companion in crafting bakery-quality creations right at home.
The Busy Bake House was born from a season of loss and rediscovery. After losing my job, I found myself searching for something more meaningful—a way to nourish my family, teach my daughters timeless skills, and reclaim our health through real, natural food.
Baking became my therapy. Kneading dough quieted my anxious mind. Watching sourdough rise taught me patience. Pulling fresh bread from the oven reminded me that I could still create something valuable with my own hands.
I wanted my girls to grow up knowing where their food comes from, understanding that the best things in life take time, and learning that homemaking is both an art and a gift. Traditional methods aren't just about taste—they're about taking back control of what goes into our bodies and rejecting the shortcuts that strip food of its nutrition and soul.
Every loaf we bake is a small rebellion against the processed, the rushed, and the artificial. It's a return to nourishing our families the way generations before us did—with intention, care, and ingredients we can actually pronounce.
This isn't just a bakery. It's a movement back to wellness, simplicity, and real food made with real love.
The Busy Bake House is a one-woman operation (with support from friends and family who believe in this crazy dream). I'm the baker, the business owner, the social media manager, the delivery driver, and the dishwasher—often all before 9 AM.
But I wouldn't have it any other way.
My daughters work alongside me in the kitchen, learning to measure, knead, and shape. They're learning patience waiting for dough to rise, math through recipe conversions, and entrepreneurship by watching their mom build something from scratch.
My support system—my family, local friends, and this incredible community—keeps me going on the early mornings and long days. They taste-test new flavors, spread the word, and remind me why I started when things get tough.
This is more than a business. It's a family mission to prove that you can build something beautiful from the ashes of what you lost.
Hollister Born & Raised: Every ingredient we can source locally, we do. We're building relationships with San Benito County and dreaming of the day we have our own farm stand—a place where neighbors gather for fresh bread, local produce, and real community connection.
Zero Waste Kitchen: Sourdough discard becomes pancakes. Day-old bread feeds local chickens or becomes bread pudding. Nothing is wasted in our kitchen—just like grandma taught us.
Natural & Simple: No preservatives, no shortcuts, no ingredients you can't pronounce. Just flour, water, salt, time, and love. The way bread was meant to be made.
Teaching Others: Through our digital resources, we're helping other families start their own cottage bakeries, creating sustainable local food systems one kitchen at a time.
The Busy Bake House exists because this community showed up when I needed them most. After job loss, it was neighbors, friends, and local supporters who believed in my sourdough before I fully believed in myself.
Now we're giving back:
Local Drops & Markets: We serve San Benito County through weekly drops and vendor events, bringing artisan baking to our community without the San Francisco prices.
Building the Farm Stand Dream: We're working toward creating a community gathering space—a farm stand where local makers, growers, and bakers can thrive together.
Teaching the Next Generation: Whether it's my daughters learning to bake or sharing business templates with aspiring cottage bakers, we believe in passing down knowledge and lifting others up.
Real Food, Real People: No fancy storefront, no corporate backing—just a local mom baking real bread and building real relationships, one sourdough loaf at a time.
